The O’Neill Team
John M. O’Neill
President
You probably won’t find anyone who has devoted more of his life to building than company founder John O’Neill. John has worked in construction since age 15, when he assisted his cousin as a carpenter’s apprentice, later studying electrical engineering and construction engineering in college. His entire adult life has been in construction, first as an estimator and project manager and later as a senior level supervisor. In 1983, he founded J.M. O’Neill, Inc. Today he draws upon more than three decades of practical insight and knowledge as he leads one of the region's most experienced construction firms.
Con McMahon
Vice President
Having worked with John for six years at another construction firm, Con was hired just six months after the founding of J.M. O’Neill. Con combines formal training in architecture and construction management with hands-on experience working with his father between school brakes. The combination of practical and theoretical skills, along with his sense of humor and emphasis on teamwork, gives Con insight and depth of understanding that translates into on-time, affordable projects.
Keith Prosser
Project Manager
Keith’s career has been shaped by his fascination with industrial technologies. He worked his way through college as a residential carpenter and electrician. After college he served 12 years as a project manager at another construction firm before joining O’Neill. In short, Keith has a highly developed understanding of how all the aspects of construction work together to achieve a quality finished product. An experienced project manager and estimator, Keith has the insight and thoroughness needed for detailed estimates.
Mike Steurer
Project Manager
As a boy, Mike and his brother built a tree house that was red-tagged by the local building department.
Not, as you might guess, for safety concerns but rather because the brothers hadn’t applied for a
building permit. Lesson learned. Now, Mike always keeps the big picture of a building project in focus,
and he is careful never to lose sight of any details. Mike has been with J.M. O’Neill for nearly a decade.
Prior to joining the company, he worked summers in construction while earning as Construction Management
degree from Chico State.
Schuyler Youkstetter
Schuyler has never been one to shy from a challenge. He's not a plumber, for example, but that didn't stop him from adding a water pressure reducer on the main water line into his house (despite his wife's protests). Schuyler tackled the job with the same fearless enthusiasm that he brings to his work at J.M.O'Neill. Before joining the O'Neill team, Schuyler was involved with public works, serving on a construction management team that built and modernized facilities at several schools in Marin County. One of those projects recently received an award from California's Coalition for Adequate School Housing. When not spending time with his family, Schuyler enjoys working on home improvement projects.
Teresa Brown
Corporate Secretary
The friendly voice in accounting belongs to Teresa, a member of the J.M. O’Neill team for 17 years. Before joining O’Neill, Teresa honed her attention to detail in the banking industry, sharpened her construction job-costing skills with a company that built manufactured homes, and worked in accounting at a large high-tech firm. Responsible for our job-cost analysis, Teresa also handles financial reports, payroll and oversees administrative functions. She juggles her “spare” time between leading two Girl Scout troops, and being involved with her daughters’ music and sports activities.
Jeff Zentner
General Superintendent
Some are born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Jeff, it seems, was born with a hammer in his hand. Both of Jeff’s grandfathers, his father and uncles worked in the construction trades, as do his two brothers. A carpenter by training who has run worksites for 25 years, Jeff brings considerable hands-on experience to his responsibilities as General Superintendent. He routinely gives clients his cell and home phone numbers, so that his problem-solving capabilities are always just a call away. As Safety Officer, Jeff works continually to help ensure safe job sites.
Dave Roberts
Superintendent
Before entering the world of commercial construction, Dave built racing sailboats and was even as part of a three-man training crew for the boycotted 1980 Summer Olympics Games in Moscow. That experience of teamwork-both in building and racing-serves Dave well in coordinating the work of subcontractors, where today’s fast-track construction requires a fluid response to meet clients’ needs. A 20-year veteran of the O’Neill team, Dave continues to hone his tenacity and perseverance on his “hobby project”; he has spent four and a half years building a solar-powered horse ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Steve West
Superintendent
Steve is only half kidding when he says he doesn’t mind being described as bland and boring. That attitude is reflected in the even, no surprises way he gets the job done. There are typically few problems because Steve emphasizes communication, letting subcontractors know expectations, planning for events 2 to 3 weeks out, and making sure everyone’s on the same page. A carpenter for 28 years, he first came to J.M. O’Neill about 10 years ago, when a previous employer – a subcontractor whose business was slow – “loaned out” Steve as a carpenter. He settled in, found it was a good fit and never went back. His organized, easy-going manner and communication skills have been honed over the years as Steve has coached youth baseball, basketball, soccer and softball.

Mark Zentner
Superintendent
One summer during high school, Mark landed his first paid construction job, working as a laborer with his uncle on the Money Tree casino in Reno. That was the start of many years in construction. He came to J.M. O’Neill, along with his brother Jeff, when the construction firm they had been working for closed. Mark has earned a reputation as a perfectionist ont he job, a trait that carries over into his personal life as well. Take, for example, his current home remodeling project. Remodeling for most people means a new kitchen or bath. To get things “just right” at his house, though, Mark began by bulldozing the grounds and tearing off a brick facade, before stripping down to bare walls. I his spare time, Mark enjoys golfing and watching baseball.
Scott Cashen
Superintendent
For Scott, there is a simple satisfaction in swinging a hammer. That’s not surprising since he was a carpenter for 15 years before joining the J.M. O’Neill team in 1994. And with more than a decade as forman and superintendent, Scott still enjoys the hands-on involvement of doing as much carpentry as possible around the work site. When he's not boating, hunting and waterskiing, Scott puts his carpentry talents to work as a volunteer building houses for Habitat for Humanity.
Rob Conners
Superintendent
Eight years ago, after working two decades as a carpenter, Rob joined J.M. O’Neill. Shortly afterwards, he earned his contractor’s license and briefly considered starting his own business before being promoted to superintendent. Rob is an entrepreneur at heart, having owned and operated a motorcycle dealership with his wife for 20 years. The entrepreneurial skills he honed - coordinating schedules and keeping the customer happy – he uses daily around the work site. Rob still likes hitting the road on his motorcycle, and enjoys a number of other outdoor activities. He also likes working with people and takes great satisfaction in watching a project go from raw shell to finished space.

Nell Randisi
Accounting
Nell works closely with each of the project managers to help keep the accounting department running smoothly. This is a daily challenge due to the project managers busy work schedules. Nell gets her strong work ethic from her dad, an industrial piping project manager. During her youth, his job took the family to Peru & Indonesia while he worked on year-long industrial piping projects. Nell joined J.M. O’Neill, Inc. in 1993, after 17 years in accounting at Kaiser Aluminum. In Nell’s spare time she volunteers at a local cat rescue group, providing care and assistance to feral cat populations.
